Choosing your target market by number of staff is one of the most valuable types of targeting because regardless of industry companies of similar size by number of staff experience similar challenges and have a lot in common.
While we are often asked about targeting by turnover, we believe number of staff is more reliable measure. This is because in NZ and Australia there is no legal requirement of reporting the turnover and as a result this figure is not openly shared in the market. that is why there are greater chances to get it wrong.
Number of staff is a lot more measurable, more known company wide and is easier collect and verify in most cases. Start thinking in number of staff, possibly in relation to the industry and you will get better targeting overall.
